Three Days in One- 30th

Cat-sitting.

Three Days in One- 29th

It was a day of food shopping and such and such. And the rest is up to lung-locked keepsake.

Three Days in One- 28th

Sunday, the 28th of June, 2009

As I rolled over that morning, I created a melody between my clothes and the couch. Every tiny inch makes that brown thing sing...it's amusing and annoying at the same time. The amusement lies with Erika's ability to make it sound like it's passing gas.

It was headed off to Church over at the RIT Religious Center. I forget how pleasant the walk to Mass could be sometimes- sometimes, that is, if I'm not running late. The school-time din was reduced into a hush that sprung between the leaves that clothed the trees and the idle creek lying beside the abandoned-looking parking lot behind NRH and Sol's.

Service ended and I left with Jess after greeting the soon to be newly weds, Jake and Vicki.

A quick stop at Goodwill resulted with a charge of $24.00 for three dresses. Yup. I'm a natural bargain hunter also known as a cheapo. It's the way I get by while indulging in vanity.

Off to IHop.

I haven't been there since God-knows-when, and to be brutally honest, I was never a fan. Well, maybe when I was six, but I don't think I ever was ever again. The wait for food was for about half an hour. Half an hour of being famished. I can't complain though, Jess and I had a wonderful time chit-chatting.

It was the brunch. And those crepes were filled with two jars of Nutella each. And mind you, they were bloodied with a ridiculous amount of thick strawberry sauce.

~~~
It was about seven when I was finally whisked away from the cookie-cutter world of Park Point.
Dinner was made by Elijah and carried on by Pavarotti. Ian, Jake, He, and I ate chili and rice in the most dramatic way possible. It was, as they say, epic.
Hello Rochester
It was around six when my Dad and I were on the Queenboro Bridge. The morning ran smoothly as the traffic did. It was a wonderful surprise.
The light was making its grand entrance as I made my own at Penn Station.
All aboard for 63 Maple heading for Canada! It was off to Rochester for me.
~
Jess picked me up from Amtrak after my journey with a bunch of interesting train people, including our awesome conductress. It was off to the beach for us!
It wasn't after Old Navy, the Dollar store, Wegman's, and a couple of other pit-stops that we reached the beach.
Note this, we didn't swim. Jess and I just basically ate and charged my phone while we were at the grove. With Jess, I toed the shoreline in my green halter dress covering my white string top. And yes, we all know for a huge fact that those bikinis aren't meant for swimming. Apparently, it wasn't for showing either. Hah.
The night consisted of brownies and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Halo lulled me into a shallow slumber of fluff and stuff.
Outfit
How do you cure a bad day?
Well, honestly getting an entire outfit for a ridiculously low price does the trick for me.
Finally got my Sidecar Tour Dress from my older post. YAY.
A Confirmation
The morning exploded into smithereens...
...so I'm just going to start this entry at the good part.
At 2:00, I was supposed to meet Kriztille in front of the what-the-heck sculpture at Hunter. Naturally, I was late. Fifteen minutes to be exact.
We met Mandy about fifteen after at St. Marks where we filled our bellies with the deliciousness of Je'Bon. Being girls, we caught up to the latest gossip of who had this new thing, this new fling, this new engagement, and this new-holy-who-had-a-baby-?-oh-guacamole. Stories went on throughout the day. We hopped along our merry way and visually shopped.
Getting naked with Santa? Oh don't let my legs fool you.
Heh. I was just listening to Sara.
Reminded me of Vicki and Jake (:
Veniero's. Where I met one of my dwarves. His name? Grumpy Gramps.
Washington Square Park. Weeee.
Elio from Milan. I met him after he found me shooting around. We had a wonderful conversation of his photography collection. He's absolutely amazing.
Leaving after Oren's.
Oh and yes, this is when we heard that Michael Jackson died. Mandy got a text from Jon and it was only confirmed by the lady who was walking in front of us ("My brother checked on CNN. It's true!). Everyone was practically shocked. See below:
Awesome girls on mopeds finding out that MJ just died via text as well.
Rest in Peace Michael.
Sampaguita
We celebrated my cousin Jeremy's birthday. Naturally when the kids were let out of the house, they started climbing and running.
His sister, Jewel.
And the little monkey himself (:
It was off to Harvest Buffet, a place where we frequently went for parties and whatnots. Whenever I go there, I splurge on seafood. My plate was just filled with ridiculous amounts of deliciousness. Compared to the rest, I didn't last very long. A plateful, a bowl of Miso, a saucer of dessert, and bubble tea. I walked out with a smile and an adjusted belt.
I absolutely love them.
~
Today was also allotted for my haircut. After my mom and I dropped Chloe off for her Tae Kwon Do, we headed for Main St after parking a couple of blocks away to walk off the food we ate.
The lady at Main St cut it shorter than I wanted. I'm not complaining. It will just take awhile to get used to:
After pit stops at a few stores, I met my mom across Roosevelt and she gave me this:
"Here, smell it. I love it....it's beautiful."
"Mom, it smells like a Sampaguita."
Brought me back to my childhood days in the Philippines. It made me think of the homeless kids that would flood the streets once the cars were at a stop light. It would always break my heart whenever they would peer into the car windows asking if we wanted to buy a couple of strings of sampaguitas.
The one promise I plan to keep is to go back there and help them. Photographs might just change the state they're in.
Understand
My day began at 5:30 am when I rolled off my bed to get ready. My trip to Brooklyn was simple enough, but I wasn't exactly sure how the G would run. I decided to head out a little before 7:00.
I was off to assist Jeri Lampert for a shoot in Long Island. If it wasn't for Lauren telling me about her post on Craigslist, I wouldn't have gotten the job so quickly. I don't really know how I managed to skip this post.
Anyway, I got their waaay to early so I stopped by the local bakery for some cheesecake. The place is called Northside Bakery which was a division of Old Poland Foods. They were awfully nice there and were even excited that I sat in.
About forty minutes passed and I was still too early when I got to her apartment. I felt bad since she basically answered the door in a slight hurry, just coming from the shower. She let me in her cozy apartment and I noticed a few books that I was required to get for Photography.
After chatting a bit, we headed to get the car. On our way, I met Timothy, the make up artist/stylist for the shoot. After packing her camera equipment and managing to squeeze everyone in, we were headed for Long Island.
A few set backs happened, but we drove along nicely. We got their and Mary Beth, the stylist, and Holly, the model, were at the garden. The location was gorgeous. It was so much fun working on it.
Another thing that made me quite happy was that Jeri was working with film. Part of my assistant job was to reload film and at this moment, I could pretty much load the film back of her Mamiya in a heartbeat.
Five different shots and looks while playing tag with the sun. We got lucky that it only started drizzling when we were headed back to the city.
I didn't get home 'til midnight. But before I even had the lengthy wait for the bus, I had one stop that reassured me of my safety:
I felt secure knowing that Johnny would protect me at 23rd Ely Ave.
Overall, I just had a blast. I loved working for Jeri and meeting everyone. The long day was much worth it.
Band-Aid
The day began at six AM. Why? Who knows. All I remember is getting up and barely knowing if I slept.
First off the checklist was to contact Lauren and see if she would go. Hello? No? Alright. I assumed by the continuous ringing and the missing text responses that she had better things to do than go to John's shoot (which, by the way, was backed up continuously by the late models and missing nail polish remover).
The unfortunate pavements residing downtown were drenched. Drawn on each pathetic square were miserable mountains of soot and rain. Ironically, the sky seemed to smile on the bustling, crowd-infested Canal Street.
Huh, okay. Either the weather's just as moody as I am or I magically turned into Laura Vasquez, played by the one and only Rosario Dawson, from Men in Black II. I was walking on Prozac-pumped sunshine.
But I guess, that wasn't enough. If there is one thing I learned today it's that happiness (unfortunately) can be bought. Yeah, I said it. It can...through new things that turn your living space into one massive storage unit. I managed to walk out of Payless with a new pair of shoes (again). It was a good thing that I did since these Alice + Olivia Ludlow Mary Janes kept my feet dry when the weather and my mood simultaneously changed. This pair was on super-sale for only $6. And so far, they are waterproof...
So, I will take all the blame on this horrible weather.
I caused it
.
.... Anyway, when I tried to enter the closest train station, this "Do Not Cross" Police line stopped me from getting anywhere. And guess what, all the stations for the 6 were blocked. Fancy that? I could have sworn that I have gotten off that train that morning (which was about a few hours before I was greeted with this surprise). I probably traveled through a looking-glass into some sort of Twilight-twisted dimension. My morning's train trip was a blur- zombified as a suicidal teenager to Niagra falls. Ok I'm sorry, that was uncalled for and utterly and completely wrong.
I didn't care. I had all the time in the world to spend before my next obligation so I walked down Canal St to find another train station. I must have been on wheels 'cause I arrived to this A-C-E train station in half a heartbeat.
The train hopping went too quickly as well. By the time I decided to face time, it read 3:30. I was in Main Street and had about an hour and a half to kill. My first stop was food since the orchestra in my stomach decided to play a discordant symphony.
Yes, thank you. A table for one. No, I'm not waiting for anyone. There is only one mouth to be fed on this table so GET. If you can't tell, I get cranky when I'm hungry.
While I was in the middle of eating, the storm came. At this point, I hurried to get out of that restaurant. I wanted rain.
I wasn't in the rain for too long since Old Navy drew me in. I shopped happily. I walked out with black clothing...hmm.
The weather was gorgeous again when I started chatting with a man who most definitely confirmed that making yourself think younger is better than stressing about a body that never stops growing older. I always manage to make friends at the registers.
After another button down, I decided to fall into the bus line. I was heading to Church so I wasn't at my usual spot for waiting. This is where I saw the ad for a coffee spot in Flushing:
Take a break.
Go to Cafe Jojo!
That made me happy.
The bus ride was nice. The world outside the bus was still bright.
I hopped off and went to Mass. Naturally, some of my mother's friends were there. They greeted me and even waited with me when I stood outside in the rain like a wet pitiful cat. I assured them that I was fine. Well, I assured them thrice. They let me be after a couple more.
Tweet of the day:
I look pretty bitchin' outside with my bright purple umbrella, pinched green cardigan, and new waterproof mary jane flats.
No Really, It's a Privelage.
I went out for some fresh city air (the oxymoron that it is) and decided to go to Main Street. This day trip was supposed to take place yesterday with Kriztille, but the weather provided us no other choice but to cancel.
I wanted to see whether or not my good ol' Asian "playground" changed. Back in high school, I spent many weekends roaming about, mostly because it was an excuse to get out. My destination was always the library since it was an excuse to walk about twenty or more blocks from where I used to live. My mother never hesitated when I asked for permission.
Main Street was my ticket to freedom.
Anyway, I ended up going to various clothing stores. Shopping with your eyes hurts when you make your way to the price tag. A button down here, return here, a skirt here- oh no wait I could make this myself, what is this...underwear, chuck it nicely here.......yeah you know, it was the typical ambivalent shopping. My last clothing stop was Old Navy where I managed to buy a plain white tee and a bikini top.
Not only does this picture give you vertigo, but that piece of clothing does as well.
This being shown, who wants to hit the pool?
My official last stop was at Ten Ren's. I got my usual flavor, Taro. It's been my favorite since I was about ten years old. Woo, ten year anniversary with Taro. Great, I just gave you my age, didn't I?
Nums {:
With the drink in my hand, I walked back to the bus stop quenched and chipper.
~~~

Hmm

This is starting to dishearten me that I'm going to be jobless and internshipless for the next few months. I'll probably move back to school earlier than planned so I can try and see if I can start my regular job up there.

A photo taken last winter quarter:

Bleck I look green. Woo disgusting color balancing :\
Anyway, this basically sums up the apartment. And yes, we do have a fourth roommate...the photo holds true since she's always out or somewhere.

~

HAH, grrrrrrrreat news from the state of my apartment there. My bath tub is clogged, my personnal dishware has been used, and the former subletters even left a mess. Let's keep this short and sweet: good job guys, you are completely dead to me.

~

Anyway, I'm excited to use my HP scanjet xpa since I can scan film on it. Now...to find the proper driver. Vroom. (Sorry, I know, I know...that was bad)

Soo... back on my blog.

I am officially done editing photos for ThinkQuest. I am off to edit some more photos for previous blogposts and to edit my old work to post up.

But first, a hello from Elijah's cat, George:

Yay for having fun with a two-week old webpicture.
