Hopping and Sailing...and Brooke!

Garage sailing as Kyle called it.

Steering his ship.

I love my friends.

Destination: Arrived; Ending: Questionable

We left for Rochester at about 3:00 am and arrived at around 10:00- a seven hour traffic-free trip according to my Dad. I can't tell you how much of a zombie family we were, trying to find humor in the most tedious and mundane processes of express furnishing.

My cat even joined in.

They left me at around 2:30 the next morning. I'm not completely sure why, but that was the saddest goodbye I've had in awhile. Not as strange as when they left me for the life and the draw of the dorms back when I were a freshie, but more of a tug-of-the-heart, eye-swelling funk. My sister even held a hug longer than what she usually gives me every blue moon.

I would like to blame this peculiarity on fatigue.

Packing

...while listening to Billy Joel.

I never tire of this silly video.

On Set: Catherine Davis

This is Catherine, one of my awesome friends from high school. After three years, we finally made the effort to hang out...and well, shoot.

During the hang out, we caught up with the latest Mary Lou gossip and everything else that has happened in our lives. She only confirmed that majority of my high school friends are in the food business. It made me think of jumping ship momentarily like doing food photography. That little impulse didn't last very long.

I'll hopefully be more awake tomorrow to post the shot on "K" has a "K".

Stringing Taste Buds

Whenever my friends and I hang out, food will always and forever be involved.

For my own food-joint count, I went to four restaurants:
The Crooked Tree for crepes and sangria
Japanese Restaurant? for tempura ice cream and another alcoholic beverage that looked like blue toilet water
Vanessa's Dumplings for the smell of dumplings and the green glow
Pommes Frites for a regular sized dill-lemon flavored fries that I shared with Crispy who went to a total of six restaurants that day.

Great food, great friends, great life.
...and yes, I give you permission to consider me a fat *ss.

Mini Family Reunion with the Catacutans

Two of my cousins and aunt from Ohio came for a pre-birthday celebration for my Lola and my Uncle who both share a birthday. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to photograph as much as I should have (or show you just how many a fraction is of my family), but here are a couple of disjointed pictures of what kinda sorta happened.
 food-making, food-devouring, mosquito-biting...
...til night-kind of...
...karaoke-ing, rock band kind of fun.

These are usually crazier events with much more people, but as I mentioned on my twitter (obnoxious, obvious link: Oh_Joi): if the sisters from my Lola's side were to actually have a full reunion, planets will collide while I will most probably be forced to sing doom opera.

Marking Specific Dates and Change

Over-exposed zombie-Joi and new haircut.

After work, I turned around the block towards a hair salon/barber shop that my boss photographed. I had a mission to possibly cut off the streak of bad luck I've had for the past few days.

I told the lady I wanted my bangs, make it short, and have fun. With chopping off a big chunk, she playfully threw it up in the air followed by a shrill of weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

No regrets.

Absence Day 3: Sun-Trapped Luck.

At the Lewis' house.

The morning of the test.

Better luck next time.

Note to self: try to make it possible to have more than a couple of hours of sleep.

Absence Day 2: When It Rains, It Pours.

Stuck in an Amtrak train for 15 hours for a supposed seven-hour trip to Rochester.

Storms came.
Trees were ran over and cut.
I reached a bed by 2:00 am.

Diana Mini with Caitlin

Saturday, August 14, 2010

For the entirety of the afternoon, I spent the day with Caitlin McNaney at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

I also played around with the mini Diana that Svend Linbaek gave me as a goodbye-thank-you present.
It was interesting working with the cute little camera. It is most definitely is one of those only-sunny cams if you don't have the flash for it. Anyway to get myself started, I played with the half-frame function as you'll see.

I can never go to the MET without visiting this sculpture and this entire area.

We also took note of oddities...

...and grazed around between our short burst of summer stories.
(These aren't the original cuts. I apologize for the inability for the Walgreens photo lab to function correctly. Oh and the insulting, customer-service-lacking staff they have also made that experience oh so wonderful.)

The events that follow involved the park, restaurants, pink ladies, and half a pitcher of strawberry and very minty sangria. Unfortunately, there are barely any evidence of these events, except for this photo that mocked the passers-by that watched the Yankees game in the cafe and a clip of a video that features the bottom of Caitlin's glass and part of her chest (not intentional, I swear).

Recreation of Pandora's Box Pt. 2

I used to stay in my head a lot to the point of seclusion.
Borderline misanthropist.
Full-time dreamer.
Full-time self-hater.

One thing that hasn't changed is my irony.

Glass Ceilings Do Not Exist

They're only visible if you let people put it over you.
(And make sure to show them the broken glass you've been chewing since you walked through their doors)
